Sketching out some ideas about Skrak’s environment. These structures are, in my mind, the smallest in his world—it’s more like a forest than a mountain range. Other ranges are huge. Some critters hollow out these things to live or hide in, since they’re relatively soft once you break their outer “shells.” For the most part these were drawn with the idea of that cordyceps fungus in mind, specifically the kind that’s infected this moth. I’ll probably use different types of fungus to design other places in Skrak’s setting.  The only constant between different areas is that it’s pretty hazy and dark, like an everlasting fog.

I’m still snickering at this so I think it must be funny. Then again I’m still kind of sleepy because I got a grand total of one hour of sleep last night. But then again, laser hair-removal on rich little old ladies is inherently funny, I think. Yes, Black Jack is a surgeon, but I don’t think he’s above using heat vision to remove facial hair for a buck. Super Jack is a reference, of course, to this Superman fanart that Tezuka once drew! I thought it was so cool that I’m planning on drawing Pinoko, Rock, and Kimba in Super-style as well.

The original sketch for this has been sitting unfinished on my computer since last December. Originally this was going to be a tongue-in-cheek response to people on Facebook pulling the “lmao atheTITS shouldn’t accept Christmas gifts LMAOOO” (there was going to be text buuuuut I stopped caring). Now it’s just a cartoon cat but! I still found use for the design! Somewhat. This guy’s not actually meant to be “my” character. Rather, he’s the design of my OC Ken’Ichi. Ken’s story has changed quite a bit from what it originally was because I realized that there was very little at stake for him in the original story, and that made it uninteresting. Plus I had no idea wtf Ken did as a career; what I pulled outta my ass was very vague and very stupid. Anyway, in the revised plot he immigrates from Japan to America to become a comic artist in the mid-60s. He doesn’t get far because 1) his style isn’t distinctly “American” (he draws a lot of inspiration from Tezuka but I don’t think I made that too clear in this particular design lmao, just roll with it) and 2) he’s not white. Ken gets stuck drawing commercial stuff meant to advertise junk (like this kitty) and he hates his life and I’d like there to be a thing about him being suspected of being a Communist or at least a sympathizer buuuut I’m not sure if I want to work with that kinda scale lmao.
