I’m thinking of doing a wordless, all-ages comic about Skrak and his trials and tribulations in Hell the underworld A Very Nasty Place™. It’d probably look a little like this but I’d like to incorporate more detail in the setting. Plus I don’t know what the plot would be, especially if I severely limit the use of dialogue. But for now, here’s Skrak trying to avoid being eaten by a much larger demon.

I’m still snickering at this so I think it must be funny. Then again I’m still kind of sleepy because I got a grand total of one hour of sleep last night. But then again, laser hair-removal on rich little old ladies is inherently funny, I think. Yes, Black Jack is a surgeon, but I don’t think he’s above using heat vision to remove facial hair for a buck. Super Jack is a reference, of course, to this Superman fanart that Tezuka once drew! I thought it was so cool that I’m planning on drawing Pinoko, Rock, and Kimba in Super-style as well.

My dad tried to use this argument with me when I came out as transgender. It really bothers me because the people who tend to make the argument that “gender doesn’t matter!” are the types who have never once questioned their gender, never experimented with their gender presentation, or—perhaps most importantly—have never experienced gender dysphoria. They’re also the same types of people who get upset over someone misgendering them, yet INSIST on using the wrong pronouns/name for trans* people. Gender is and can be an extremely important of a person’s identity. And not just trans* people—cis people can place a lot of value on their gender identity as well! Plus, in this world, gender can affect how much you’ll get paid, who wants to start a relationship/have sex with you, and how you’ll be treated in your career field, among other things. To act like it doesn’t matter at all is foolish. Absolutely necessary disclaimer so people who are cis don’t shit their pants with rage: Cis ppl =/= cis people or cis allies. Cis ppl are the idiots who believe this argument, the idiots who believe trans* individuals are just confused, the idiots who believe that HRT or surgeries are “just cosmetic,” the idiots who believe in the “womyn born womyn” bullshit, the idiots who don’t respect a trans* person’s preferred pronouns, and so on.

So I’m starting a new tumblr.

It’s called Transtoons. Basically, it’ll be a tumblr where trans* people can submit their comics about their daily life. The idea is that it’ll be a place where trans* people can view comics that they can directly relate to. I’ve already got the URL reserved if you’re interested in taking a peek at the submission guidelines and etc. (transtoons.tumblr.com)

Anyway, I’m looking for a couple moderators. The only stipulations are that you MUST identify as trans* (I’m making this a space specifically for trans* people—allies are always welcome to view it and enjoy it, but I’d really rather not have it become run by cisgender allies who can’t possibly be aware of what trans* people go through on a day-to-day basis) and you should have some knowledge of comics (basically, knowing what makes a comic) (this is easier than it seems I promise). The other thing I’d like mods to do is, when they happen upon comics by trans* people, they just reblog them to Transtoons.

So, with that being said, are any of my trans* followers interested in being a mod? Spread this around if you think your trans* followers will be interested.
