I don’t know if this could be considered #nsfw but I’m putting that just in case.
ok I gif’d it
This guy’s mother was a Nekomata—a type of shapeshifting, fork-tailed cat demon from Japan—and his father was a human nobleman. His mother left his father, and he had to make a decision: Abandon the half-breed brat and pretend the whole fiasco never happened, or raise him and risk losing his status. He chose to raise him because despite it all, he loved the kid.
The kid was pretty wild due to his demon blood, though his father tried to “tame” him. It worked until he was a teenager, when somehow the town they lived in was attacked and the kid ran off, leaving his father to fend for himself I guess? (I haven’t worked out his entire backstory.)
Anyway, said kid realizes that nobody can control him any more, so he becomes a thief and gathers up a small band of rogues to go terrorize small Japanese villages and so on.
I really want to write this story but I need to research a lot first.
This guy can shapeshift a little—he can take any human form for a little while (a day at most), until he reverts back. He frequently does this when he needs to escape for some reason. The only problem is that he can’t get rid of his tail in any way, so that’s usually what gives him away. Plus (though it’s kind of hard to tell in this picture), his eyes will always be amber colored. Oh, and if somebody actually calls him a Nekomata after finding him out, he’ll instantly revert back.
He’s also kind of an arrogant prick. This is mostly due to a couple things:
1. His noble background
2. As a kid he didn’t really fit in with other kids OR demons, so he came to the conclusion that he was better than them.
I haven’t figured out a name for him, mostly because I’m terrible at Japanese names.
Colored in the character with this brush, and the watercolor splatters were made with these.
These sorts of videos remind me of how industrialization has basically ruined ancient forms of art, and that makes me very, very sad.
