Cy only has two, claw-like fingers on each hand, so he’s not very dexterous. He doesn’t mind, though.
A mix of markers and colored pencil. I’m glad I was able to make his skin look mottled using just one marker. The lighter and flame were colored with a metallic marker, so they shimmer a bit under light.

This guy’s mother was a Nekomata—a type of shapeshifting, fork-tailed cat demon from Japan—and his father was a human nobleman. His mother left his father, and he had to make a decision: Abandon the half-breed brat and pretend the whole fiasco never happened, or raise him and risk losing his status. He chose to raise him because despite it all, he loved the kid.
The kid was pretty wild due to his demon blood, though his father tried to “tame” him. It worked until he was a teenager, when somehow the town they lived in was attacked and the kid ran off, leaving his father to fend for himself I guess? (I haven’t worked out his entire backstory.)
Anyway, said kid realizes that nobody can control him any more, so he becomes a thief and gathers up a small band of rogues to go terrorize small Japanese villages and so on.
I really want to write this story but I need to research a lot first.
This guy can shapeshift a little—he can take any human form for a little while (a day at most), until he reverts back. He frequently does this when he needs to escape for some reason. The only problem is that he can’t get rid of his tail in any way, so that’s usually what gives him away. Plus (though it’s kind of hard to tell in this picture), his eyes will always be amber colored. Oh, and if somebody actually calls him a Nekomata after finding him out, he’ll instantly revert back.
He’s also kind of an arrogant prick. This is mostly due to a couple things:
1. His noble background2. As a kid he didn’t really fit in with other kids OR demons, so he came to the conclusion that he was better than them.
I haven’t figured out a name for him, mostly because I’m terrible at Japanese names.
Colored in the character with this brush, and the watercolor splatters were made with these.

I love this photoshop brush. It feels so natural.
Anyway! This is one of my very first characters, Krastry. Originally, he was a ripoff of a semi-famous aisha on Neopets called Krashark, who was this gothic character. Naturally, when I was in fourth grade, I loved said character.
The original Krastry (who was named Krashark5 on Neopets) eventually developed into a sort-of kind-of parody of Krashark. Instead of being a teenage gothic character, he was a little kid who pretended to be gothic and tough and wot-wot, and who couldn’t pronounce his Rs correctly. Eventually, I got rid of the whole gothic aspect of his character and made him into a normal kid who happened to be very naughty. (And he still can’t pronounce his Rs that well.)
At this point, I decided to pound Krashark5 and create a new Neopet, called Krastry. (My sister was not found of this decision, for some reason.) I decided to keep the “Kra” in his name as a reminder of his roots, as well as a kind of tribute to the original creator of the real Krashark. She inspired me to begin creating characters, after all.
Eventually I quit Neopets, and I realized that Krastry could not be an aisha anymore. The ears had to go. So I drew him with small, pointed horns instead. He was a red cat anyway, and it matched his devilish personality. Plus, it made him all my own.
Now I’ve recreated Krastry on Neopets on my side account, for nostalgia’s sake. I won’t do much with him there, but it’s nice to have him again. So I drew him with his old aisha ears to bring him back to his roots.
The only problem with this image is that he looks too damn old. He’s supposed to be about six or seven, eight at the oldest. I think it’s the size of his nose and mouth.
I should really post a comprehensive history of Krastry. He really reflected the changes in my hobbies and interests as I aged. He even went through a brief Third-Reich obsession while I was a sophomore in high school. Time to break out the old sketchbooks!

Wiwaxia, you shithead.
Practicin’ that old coloring method that I’m so fond of. I wanted to see if it would work well with organic subjects as opposed to mechanical ones. Plus, I needed to practice a little more in Photoshop before I open commissions. The sketch for this was about two months old. Also, Wiwaxia’s shirt isn’t nearly tacky enough. Damn.
Speaking of tacky shirts, I got a REALLY ugly one this week from Goodwill. It’s this hideous orange color and has Chinese dragons and boats and people on it and it is GARISH. I love it.
Anyway, I’m kind of satisfied with this overall. Something about his face doesn’t quite sit well with me, but I just can’t figure it out, so I’m leaving it as-is. I’ve found that if I fuck around with something for too long, I’ll ruin it.

This is Cap’n Bart (short for Barthalomew; the name is usually a mouthful for his crew because it’s so ancient). He’s my transman sea/sky pirate! Originally, he joined the ship as the deck swabber, then he led a mutiny against the original captain, who was tyrannical as hell. Bart joined the pirates in the first place to escape the incoming Boarmen (Homo scrofa) invasion. See, the Boarmen are strict believers in the gender binary, and they don’t like “sex traitors” or other “deviants.” Bart left to avoid being killed. They also hate body modification of any kind, so Bart would have been singled out for the scars on his chest, his piercings, and tattoos.
While escaping, Bart removed his piercings and covered his tattoos, then also gave himself a mohawk to act like he was supportive of the Boarmen’s ideals. Once it was safe, he began growing his hair back out. He’ll chop it again in the future, so expect his hair to change a bit.
Anyway, I’m working on his and his crew’s story right now. I already have the various sub-species for the Homo genus planned, as well as most of their cultures. The cat guys I was drawing a while back will show up in this. It’s ridiculously fun.

Remember how I got an account on Neopets?
Well, this is my uni, Lazarus. They’re a laid-back, femme, genderqueer sorta person who enjoys beauty and glamor. However, that won’t stop them from being forceful to get respect or what they want. They’re a devout believer in the god you’d find in monotheistic religions such as Judaism, Islam, and Christianity (Lazarus means “saved by god” or somesuch), but they don’t subscribe to a particular religion. They also don’t care much for politics. Lazarus also runs their own business—they design clothing for all genders, and they mostly sell to musicians or theater groups. They also help design the costumes for characters in said theater groups.
Personally, I just like how I finally have an excuse to make a unicorn/pegasus OC that isn’t a MLP fancharacter, and that I have a genderqueer character on Neopets of all places.
I also wanted to add that TECHNICALLY, this picture is 100% complete. See, Lazarus is a sketch uni, so refining it with lines and color would be inaccurate. /poor-ass excuse

This is Brattle! He’s actually based off of a species of pet on Subeta, known as the Lasirus:

All I know about him is that his name pretty much defines his personality—he’s a brat. He also has a fear of flying, which is why he doesn’t mind covering up his wings with his hoodie. While he was first learning how to fly, he crashed face-first into a wall and his nose basically crunched. Because his appearance was altered so drastically, he refuses to fly. Brattle also holds talented flyers in contempt, possibly out of jealousy. He’s still young, so he still has plenty of time to get over his phobia and take wing.
I went with a more “traditional” bat design for this guy—big, big arms and puny legs. He’s pretty top-heavy, but then again, so are bats. Look at how tiny this guy’s feet are in comparison to his wings and upper body:

Now, technically, Brattle’s design isn’t quite accurate to the Lasirus’. The Lasirus is more of a cross between a bat and a rat, and thus has longer legs and feet. But I’m not too concerned about it. I think the tail works well to make it clear that Brattle isn’t designed on a real species of bat.

OH SNAP I’ve been designing bug characters again.
This is Flash. He is a firefly with a really, really unoriginal nickname (that he picked himself). He looks pretty young, but he’s really about 16-17 human years old. I’m not too sure about the look of his light-up butt (which is actually more like a tail). He’s pretty street-savvy and knows his way around “Bugtopia City” (working name for the largest city the characters reside in, which is run by creatures higher up on the food chain, such as birds, frogs, and crocs. Insects are oppressed by the upper castes). He also tricks a lot of authority figures by pretending to be a little kid.
Yeah, he’s pretty fun. You can kind of see where I deviated from my original ideas here, such as with his antennae.

I told this guy that he spelled ‘wheeze’ wrong, and then linked him to a few pictures of skulls because clearly he has no idea what he’s doing.
This is what I ended up with:

its called a difference in style you cunt, i could quite easily draw him with a generic skull just like i could draw him without hair, in a heap, in the corner of the room! but that would hardly distinguish him from every other reanimated corpse minion in this comic leading to confusion for readers when battles brake out, not to mention the fact that it would be flat out visually boring, also, if its some one’s personal style then there’s no such damned thing as doing it wrong! its called art because there no damned science to it ya two bit shit head. now would you kindly A. stop critiquing things that dont need it and actually read my story enjoying it for what it is. Or B. stop critiquing things that dont need it and piss right the fuck off

And then he hid everything. The ‘artist’ is 20.

I'm just an average guy in college who likes to embarrass himself online. I'm also a homo-gay extremist. Sometimes I draw or write and post stuff here, but I mostly just reblog shit. I like paleontology, science-fiction, super heroes, and other stuff. I'm also a comic aficionado who takes great pleasure in criticizing newspaper strips.

Check out my links down thar if you want to see my art or watch a fish do something silly.

And a fair warning: I talk a LOT with my buds here. Tumblr-savior "convo" if you have no interest in our nonsense. Also, I try to keep my blog SFW, but every so often I'll reblog/post something NSFW. Those will be tagged as "NSFW" in case you want to savior that.
